In 2020, Tesla boss Elon Musk made the sales target public. “Our goal is to build and deliver 20 million vehicles annually by 2030,” he said. “In order to achieve this goal, we have to make our products more accessible.” The target was also mentioned in the sustainability report for 2022. In 2023, Tesla delivered 1.81 million vehicles worldwide, 38 percent more than in the previous year. Three years earlier, Musk had set annual growth targets of 50 percent. Musk has since changed his strategy and is focusing on autonomous driving as the main growth driver. Tesla is expected to provide details about the robotaxi on August 8th. However, according to a Reuters report, the development of an entry-level vehicle has been put on hold.
