Young companies such as Figure AI, Apptronik, Agility Robotics, Sanctuary AI and Boston Dynamics are causing a stir with human-like robots. But the strategically important issue is not the humanoid form. It is the software dynamics behind it that are becoming increasingly important for mechanical engineering. We use several different examples to specifically show the increasing importance of tight, software-driven value creation networks.
