Network is growingThe number of public e-car charging points in the EU continues to grow. At the turn of the year, the European car manufacturer association ACEA counted 632,390 power sources, around 153,000 more than at the same time in 2022. The largest network is in the Netherlands with a good 144,000 charging points, followed by Germany (121,000) and France (119,000). At the bottom of the ranking are small countries such as Malta, Cyprus, Estonia and Latvia, each with a three-digit number of charging points. The expansion is still not going fast enough for ACEA. At the same pace, there would only be 1.55 million charging points online by the end of 2030. The EU Commission wants around 2.9 million at this point, and industry representatives even expect a real need of 8.2 million.
