Wolfgang Kubicki finds it strange that the German Press Agency (dpa) receives money from the federal government. More specifically, he finds it questionable that the dpa receives 240,536 euros from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media (BKM), Claudia Roth, for a project entitled “Training program for media professionals on the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence”. This, the FDP politician and Bundestag Vice President told the “Bild” newspaper, was “one-sided funding”. He considers “state project funding for a private news agency that competes with others” to be “at least in need of legal explanation”.
