If you turn off the valley road at the “Zur Sonne” inn and literally leave the cute, tree-lined Glottertal panoramic outdoor swimming pool on your left, you first come across the Glotterbad rehabilitation clinic, a well-kept complex whose new building hides the historic ensemble behind it. From here you follow the Badstraße uphill, always along the edge of the forest, accompanied on the right by a lively body of water that, as you could have guessed, is called Badbächle. It goes like this for a few minutes; Every now and then a brick-red roof flashes on the slope behind the trees. And at some point, behind the penultimate bend, it suddenly stands in front of you in all its glory. Anyone who has the television images in their head and takes this walk for the first time immediately has the thought: The Black Forest Clinic with its characteristic three gables on the north side really exists. It is an emblematic place of the old Federal Republic in all its languid peacefulness and contentment. Actually, one thinks, Hans Hammerschmid’s theme song should start immediately, with violin opening and brass, and if not Klausjürgen Wussow, at least Sascha Hehn should come around the corner in his white VW Golf convertible to do his duty to start as a ward doctor.
