Europe’s commercial vehicle market stableIn the first half of the year, the commercial vehicle market grew across Europe. Vans in particular, but also buses, were in demand, as the industry association ACEA reports. New registrations for vans up to 3.5 tons rose by 15 percent to around 840,400 units. The most important markets were Germany (plus 19.3%), Spain (plus 18.5%), Italy (plus 17.8%) and France (plus 10.5%). When it comes to the choice of drive, diesel continues to dominate in all three segments. The electric drive played the largest role with a market share of 15.5 percent for buses and 1.9 percent market share for trucks. Of the new vans, 5.8 percent had pure electric drive.
