Geese were the first thing Luis Har saw when he came out of the tunnel on October 7th. For about five hours, or so it seemed to him, his captors had led him and four other Israelis through dark underground paths. “Every now and then they would look at a small piece of paper with a map drawn on it,” says Har. “But basically they knew exactly what they had to do.” At some point they climbed an improvised ladder and reached the surface. “We saw light again – finally!” The tunnel ended in a goose barn. They were somewhere in the Gaza Strip.
