Cars with fuel cells have a niche existence; only a few manufacturers in the world offer them. Customers cannot buy the BMW iX5 Hydrogen because the Munich car company only produced it in a small series of 100 vehicles for test purposes. BMW is the only German car manufacturer working on fuel cells. Now the Bavarians want to offer a series model with this technology for the first time in 2028. The partner for this is the Toyota Group, for which the fuel cell also has a permanent place in the variety of drive systems of the future.
