EEG funding ensures that more and more green electricity is fed into the grid in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office announced a few days ago that 61 percent of production in the first half of the year came from renewable energies. But the support costs a lot of money – an estimated 18.4 billion euros this year. And it is only approved by the EU Commission until the end of 2026. A new funding regime will then replace the EEG. Opinions differ as to exactly what this should look like. Those involved in the “Climate Neutral Electricity System Platform” had until Friday to present their views to the Federal Ministry of Economics.
