Recall due to brake problems at BMWDue to problems with the braking system, BMW has to recall numerous cars worldwide. In addition, vehicles that have already been built cannot be delivered. A total of 1.5 million units are affected, according to the car manufacturer. The expected warranty costs and slumps in sales, along with other problems, are causing the group to lower its annual targets. The profit margin in the car business is likely to be six to seven percent lower than expected. Eight to ten percent were previously planned. The so-called Integrated Braking System (IBS) has been causing problems for the people of Munich for several months. The error can lead to the failure of the hydraulic brake force support, meaning that the brake has to be pressed harder than usual. ABS and ESP can also fail. The Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) launched a monitored recall in the spring. Various BMW models from the past two years as well as the technically related Alpina XB7 are affected. If necessary, software will be installed in the affected vehicles that can detect a potential failure in advance and warn the driver. If the IBS is faulty, it will be replaced.
