Shortly before Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens)’s car summit on Monday afternoon, the idea of a scrappage bonus is making an unexpected comeback: drivers who swap their petrol or diesel car for a new electric car should receive a bonus of 6,000 euros, demand economic politicians from the SPD parliamentary group. Anyone who switches to a used electric car should be supported by the state with 3,000 euros. SPD General Secretary Kevin Kühnert emphasized after the state elections in Brandenburg on Sunday evening that the radical measure was intended to stabilize Germany as an automotive location.
