The Volkswagen Group crisis has alarmed Germany. The largest private employer in the country has to make drastic savings. Now politicians and trade unions are overflowing with ideas on how to solve the problem. Scrapping bonuses and tax breaks to promote the sale of electric cars, a four-day week for employees: all of this is accompanied by large rallies by IG Metall, which is negotiating a new company tariff with VW and is demanding a wage increase of 7 percent.
