Robert Habeck expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of a week of numerous resignations, departures and candidacies in his party. It was possible to find two candidates “very quickly and comparatively quietly” within two days of the resignation of the previous Green Party leader, whom Habeck described on Deutschlandfunk as “extraordinarily strong personalities and minds of their own.” Franziska Brantner and Felix Banaszak still have to be elected at the Green party conference in November, but he is confident about that, said Habeck, who himself would like to be nominated as the top candidate or candidate for chancellor at the delegates’ meeting in Wiesbaden. The two future chairmen would develop a completely different attitude, one that was passionate and optimistic about the future. Already now, said Habeck, the party is not “looking with grief at the inner workings of the traffic light, but rather at society.”
