Carlos Tavares didn’t seem like an on-call car boss on Monday. After Stellantis’ most recent leadership quake, in which the board of directors confirmed him as CEO until the end of his contract at the beginning of 2026, he went back into attack mode – and used the start of the Paris Motor Show to make a correction. “After consulting with my wife and children, I took the initiative and announced that I would be resigning at the end of my term in office,” Tavares made clear in an interview with journalists. Not others, but he decided and also announced during a factory visit at the beginning of October that the beginning of 2026 would be a good time for retirement. Tavares will be 67 years old.
