Renault proudly announces that the new electric R5 will be built in France. Opel also wants it to be seen as a signal that the new Grandland is coming from Eisenach. It takes little imagination to imagine a threat to the East German plant; in general, Germany doesn’t seem particularly industry-friendly at the moment. This may be why the now-more-than-important argument is so popular among interested parties – the product itself must of course also be convincing.
