Since VW joined the Chinese electric car manufacturer Xpeng in order to benefit from its digital expertise, the Chinese cars have been under special observation. Although only 113 Xpeng vehicles were registered in Germany in the first nine months, the manufacturer is one of the premium providers in China because of its technological expertise. Shortly before Tesla brings its FSD technology for autonomous driving to the Chinese market, Xpeng presents the P7+ sports sedan, the alternative to Tesla’s Model 3. “The future of the automotive industry lies in technology, with AI and autonomous driving being the next revolution,” said Xpeng CEO He Xiaopeng at the launch in Paris of the new vehicle, which is already selling rapidly in China. Within the first 108 minutes, 30,000 orders were received for the vehicle, which, at just under 30,000 euros, costs around half the price of a BMW i4.
