German FAZ: What VW can learn from Škoda008072

There are few things that infuriate works councils and managers at the Volkswagen headquarters in Wolfsburg as much as a comparison with the Czech subsidiary Škoda. Since the VW Group took over the Eastern European brand after reunification and saved it from collapse, competition has developed with the parent brand VW. With their models, the Czechs are not only in competition with Renault, Peugeot and Co, but are also eating into the market shares of the company’s own cars such as the VW Golf or Passat. The struggle over factory closures and layoffs in Germany is heating up the fight.
