When Martin Winterkorn, the fallen regent of Wolfsburg, went on a test drive with a new car, his entire team froze. Not only because of the minus 20 degrees that it had in the far north, but also because of the feared statements made by the CEO. So it happened that, getting cold feet on a frozen lake, he asked his adlatus whether he had chosen something cheap when choosing footwear. Despite the icy cold, Winterkorn carefully walked around the future Golf and finally reached into the rear left wheel arch. There, as he explained to the astonished journalist, “you can install solid insulation material and fasten it properly. Or slouch a bit.”
