German FAZ: Where the anniversary bonus is canceled008161

Germans are loyal employees, at least when it comes to length of service. Although people are changing employers more frequently than a few years ago, more than 40 percent of all employees have still been with the same company for more than ten years. This is shown by figures from the Federal Statistical Office. Anyone who stays with a company for such a long time can usually be happy: a service anniversary is often rewarded with a one-off payment, the so-called anniversary bonus. Companies want to recognize the years of work their employees have done.
