German FAZ: Five myths about the economic misery008176

Germany’s economy is not doing well, there’s no question about it. Some people suffer from this and their jobs are at risk. Many suffer from this for whom the economy does not provide what a functioning economy could: They cannot find an apartment, wait a long time for a doctor’s appointment and have to expect long delays on train journeys. All Germans together suffer from the fact that prices in the country have risen and the weak economy generates few taxes for the state. If the economy had developed in recent years as predicted in 2019, the federal government would collect around 40 billion euros more in taxes this year – that is roughly the amount that the federal government is taking out in new loans this year.
