Peter Carlsson is used to grim times. His company, the Swedish battery cell manufacturer Northvolt, has experienced “a series of near-death experiences” since it was founded in 2016, he told the F.A.S in March. But this week things got really tight: On Thursday, Northvolt applied for protection from creditors under US law because Carlsson and his team failed in months of negotiations to raise urgently needed additional capital from investors for the highly loss-making company.
