There is no shortage of hostile campaign rhetoric: Trump wants to ban German cars from the streets of New York’s prestigious Fifth Avenue. At the same time, he declared his goal to be to lure German manufacturers to the United States – but he may have meant the word “force”. It’s not enough that German car manufacturers are seen as unwelcome competitors in the USA: additional mistrust is caused by the fact that Germany’s manufacturers are even more active in China than in America.
