The Volkswagen Group crisis has kept the Republic in suspense for weeks. Right in the middle: Oliver Blume. The man in his mid-fifties not only leads the group with its dozen brands as CEO, but also the sports car manufacturer Porsche. All in all, he recently summarized at a works meeting in Wolfsburg, the group is a “restructuring case”. The works councils at the headquarters are resisting factory closures and mass layoffs, and employee representatives from Audi and Porsche have repeatedly expressed solidarity with the VW workforce.
