The streets of Damascus are plunged into darkness, there are hardly any cars on the road. The regime collapsed just a few days ago, and many in the Syrian capital are unsettled. But in “Sugar Man” the light is on. “Something big is going to happen here,” a guest from the neighborhood predicted. The scenes in the small bar, located on a side street, are actually overwhelming. Freedom is celebrated here this evening. Operator Kifah Zeni, known as Zino, stands behind the counter and provides music and drinks. “Today is a good day!” he cheers.
