Every beginning is difficult. This is particularly true for autonomous cars; the difficulties are enormous. When Alex Kendall tested his Renault Twizy – equipped with a software program with artificial intelligence (AI) – on a dirt road for the first time seven years ago, the small car swerved dangerously. Sometimes it steered too far to the left, then to the right. Like a toddler learning to walk. Or like a drunk. Kendall had to brake and countersteer every few meters. The videos of these first rides are really funny.
