The car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz sells his work in the Argentine Virrey del Pino. A group of investors, around the Argentine entrepreneur Pablo Peralta, took over the factory southwest of Buenos Aires, said Mercedes-Benz Argentina. No information was given about the sales price.
Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius had previously announced the sale of the work. After a weak financial year with a violent slump in profits the group wants to get back on the road with a savings program.
The work in Argentina was founded in 1951 and is the oldest factory of the Mercedes-Benz Group outside of Germany. So far, over 400,000 Sprinter type has been manufactured there since the production started in 1996. Around 1,800 employees are employed in the work.
The new owners receive a license to continue producing the sprinter with diesel engines by 2030. The company later plans to manufacture vehicles for other manufacturers in the work. In addition, the group will continue to import Mercedes cars and drive them out in Argentina.
