According to the Federal Ministry of Economics, more employees work in the cultural and creative industries than before Corona pandemic. “The cultural and creative industries are back on growth course,” said the parliamentary state secretary Michael Kellner (Greens) on the occasion of the publication of a report on the development of the industry on Friday in Berlin. According to the ministry, the cultural and creative industries employed around two million people in 2023, 130,000 more. In addition, the sales of the industry have grown. If the sales of the cultural and creative industries were still at 167.3 billion euros in the crisis year 2020, sales of 204.6 billion euros were recorded in 2023, the ministry said that the recovery is carried out by almost all areas of the industry. “The heavily public -oriented music and performing arts, which were strongly hit by the pandemic, have also recovered noticeably,” said Kellner. The lowest-growth sub-market is the software and game industry. The turnover of the architecture and film industry has also increased, but according to the ministry there was, however, in 2023 at the press and in advertising. The report was created on behalf of the Ministry by Prognos AG, a Swiss analysis and consulting company.
