Despite the austerity course at Volkswagen, the 120,000 employees in Germany can expect an unabridged premium again this year. After the balance sheet template on Tuesday, its amount should also be determined. In recent years it has always been several thousand euros that were released to each employee. IG Metall and companies had agreed to put the profit sharing of the employees on hold shortly before Christmas. According to the works council, this only applies from 2026. This year, the payment is again unabridged, said works council chief Daniela Cavallo in February during the company meeting. This also depends on the profit in the previous year, which the group wants to announce on March 11th. Europe’s largest car manufacturer had screwed down its forecast for 2024 several times and recently calculated with 18 billion euros in surgery. And also not only last year, but also the year before. The recorder result of 2023 is again flowing into it. The premium was more than 4,735 euros per employee on the subject of last year. In the past, it had been much more in a few years because VW usually opened the bonus again. So it was over in 2024. Also this year there should be no surcharge on the arithmetical bonus. According to the works council, almost 80,000 euros per employee have been distributed in 2007. In 2012 and 2013 alone there was more than 7,000 euros. From the coming year, the employees will have to prepare for significantly less money. In the tariff compromise shortly before Christmas it was agreed that in 2026 and 2027 only a fixed advance payment of almost 2000 euros will be preserved, which will flow in November. The flexible rest, which actually follows in May, will be suspended for two years. After that, the bonus is to be gradually increased to the old level by 2031.
