Wiesbaden. The number of employees in Hessian healthcare increased in 2023 to a new high of 474,400 women and men. That was 0.7 percent more than in 2022, as the State Statistical Office in Wiesbaden announced. From 2019, the year before the outbreak of Corona, the number of these employees had even increased by 5.6 percent by 2023. The largest employers in Hessian healthcare are the hospitals. In 2023 they employed around 18.8 percent of health personnel – 89,200 women and men. That was 3.7 percent more than in 2022. According to the statistics, the number of employees increased by 1.6 percent to 33,000 – and in partial or inpatient care by 0.2 percent to 52,700.71 percent of employees in the entire Hessian healthcare system in 2023. Her share in nursing even skipped the 80 percent mark. The proportion of men, on the other hand, was highest among the emergency services at 65 percent. (dpa)
