Carsten Linnemann preferred to remain general secretary, Jens Spahn preferred to become parliamentary group leader. Now it is Katherina Reiche who takes over the Ministry of Economic Affairs, which is badly decomposed in the coalition negotiations. For thoroughbred politicians of the CDU, the Ministry was no longer attractive without the responsibility for climate protection, digital policy as well as technology and space travel. That doesn’t have to be a disadvantage. Reiche, the side entrant from the economy, has all the freedom to give the house more weight than it still has on paper.
