Wiesbaden. The real wages rose slightly in Hesse in the first quarter of 2025. This has strengthened the purchasing power of the citizens. The nominal wages increased by 3.4 percent compared to the previous year, while consumer prices attracted only 2.4 percent. So there was a real wage plus of 1.0 percent, as the State Statistical Office in Wiesbaden announced. With the eighth increase in a quarter compared to the same period last year, the positive trend in real wages continued in early 2025. From the fourth quarter of 2021 to the first quarter of 2023, a high inflation had let them sink – since then the real wages have risen again. Wage increases, one-off payments, the former inflation equalization bonus and the increases of the minimum wage to 12.82 euros contributed to higher nominal wins- at times of moderate inflation, the nominal wages increased in the first quarter of 2025 in Hesse (plus 6.0 percent) and in health and social affairs (plus 5.8 percent). Overall, there was a nominal wage increase of 3.6 percent for services. In the manufacturing trade, it was 2.7 percent according to the statistics. (dpa)
