That’s a key finding of Carwow. It said analysis of all vehicles sold for less than £5,000 in Carwow auctions year to date reveals that Range Rover Evoque vehicles registered between 2012 and 2017 offered the biggest profit potential to dealers with an average estimated margin of £2,398.

The online car-changing marketplace calculated the top 10 ‘most profitable’ list by looking at the selling prices of vehicles in the sub-£5,000 category in its daily online auctions since 1 January 2025 and compared them to cap Retail prices.

In second place was the Audi A3 Sportback, specifically models registered between 2009 and 2016, with a potential profit margin of £2,345.

This was followed by the BMW 3 Series, registered between 2012 and 2016 (£2,337), and 2011 to 2018 models of the Jaguar XF estate (£2,284).

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class rounds off the top five, with models registered between 2010 and 2017 achieving a potential profit of £2,269.
