Rüsselsheim. On Wednesday morning, there was a large -scale power failure that mainly affects the Dicker Busch district. According to the municipal utility, around 2500 households could be connected to the supply by switching in the power grid by 11.45 a.m. Nevertheless, around 2000 households still have to do without electricity-probably several hours. Households that are supplied with over 14 transformer stations in Dicker Busch, including the Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße, the retirement home on Ostpark, Wartburgweg, Brandenburger Straße, Thuringian Straße, Mecklenburger Straße, Paul-Ehrlich-Straße, Georg-OHM-Straße, Virchowstrasse (two stations) and Robert-Bunsen-Straße (four stations). Short circuits have been created again at two places of the underground cables. While 18 transformations could be put back into operation quickly by switching, there is the problem at the remaining stations that the redundancies are also affected. As a result, no further switch-offs are possible, and the defective lines have to be exposed and repaired by civil engineering work. The power failure began at around 8:30 p.m. on Monday and led to the GPR clinic on August-Bebel-Straße to switch to emergency power supply. The Alexander von Humboldt School and the Georg Büchner School were also affected. While the lessons continued at the Georg Büchner School as part of a project week, lessons at the Alexander von Humboldt School were canceled. At the top, more than 10,000 households were affected, and the municipal utilities announced that the last 250 households had also been supplied with electricity since 6 p.m. Extensive civil engineering work was necessary to clear and repair the damaged line sections.
