German FAZ: Heat wave until Wednesday: 38 degrees in Hesse expected009554

Offenbach. It is hot and it gets even hotter: the German Weather Service for Hesse says up to 38 degrees in the new week before. The greatest heat is expected for Tuesday and Wednesday. This is followed by cooling and violent thunderstorms. According to the prediction, the forecast becomes sunny, and there are a few clouds of source over the mountains, but it remains dry, but the weather service expects 31 to 36 degrees. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the temperatures rise to 38 degrees. The 30-degree mark also falls in the high-rise. It is sunny for this, at most some spring clouds slide in front of the sun. The nights remain tropical. Local showers and thunderstorms are not excluded on Wednesday, but it usually stays dry. Then cooling is in sight, probably on Thursday. To do this, you have to expect strong thunderstorms. At the latest in the course of Friday, when the holidays begin in Hesse, it should be cooler all over Germany. At the weekend, the weather service published heat warnings for the southern half of Hesse. The strong thermal load can be dangerous and lead to a variety of health problems. “Avoid the heat if possible, drink enough water and keep the interiors cool,” the weather service warns. Healthy adults need significantly more on heat days than the otherwise recommended at least 1.5 liters of liquid. If possible, exertion should be avoided. The sun currently has a lot of opportunity to heat up the air: the DWD specifies the sunshine duration for Monday and Tuesday at the level of the Main with more than 15 hours. The UV index shows that the danger from sunburn increases continuously in the coming days. On Tuesday, Hessen is almost completely red colored and the danger is very high. Heat and drought also increase the risk of forest fires. Only the cold front expected for Thursday with precipitation could reduce the danger again. (dpa.)
