The VW group dominates the German electric market market. With a market share of a good 46 percent in the first half of the year, the Wolfsburgers are not only for miles before the competition, but above all much better than a year ago, as an evaluation of figures from the Federal Motor Transport Office shows by the dpa. At that time it was almost 32 percent. In second place is located BMW, which comes to a good 11 percent with his daughters Mini and Rolls-Royce. Tesla – A year ago number two with almost 12 percent -, on the other hand, crashed to 3.6 percent and eighth place.
The fact that VW dominates at the German car market is nothing unusual in itself, and in the overall market they are usually in a range of around 40 percent and therefore unable to go ahead. For a long time, the position of Wolfsburg was significantly worse than in the overall market in the new electric car registrations; In the meantime, it is better by a good four percentage points.
BMW only just before Skoda
A comparison on the pure brand level also shows how dominant the VW group is on its home market. There, places one, three, four, and five go to Wolfsburg’s brands, especially the core brand. Only BMW succeeds in moving into the Phalanx in second place. And even for this place, the Munich people have to fight. The lead over Skoda, which has grown massively thanks to the new models, was just 213 cars in the first half of the year.
Of course, this comparison is not quite fair, since BMW serves the premium segment, Skoda the volume area. If you put the Munich next to the old arch rivals Audi And Mercedes-Benz, on the other hand, there are still clear differences. They are a few thousand cars behind and in ranks four and six.
A similar picture shows on the model level: here ranks one to six go to the VW group with the ID.7 at the top. BMWS X1 follows in seventh place. Teslas Model Y, long number one, has to be satisfied with ninth place.
