Frankfurt. An 81-year-old from Frankfurt has become the victim of “Love-Scamming”-a fraud stitch on the Internet, in which the affected people are pretended to have romantic feelings. The woman referred the unknown perpetrator to a medium five -digit amount of money, the police said. He had faked to work as a police officer in the United States. He needs money so that he can visit her. The 81-year-old transferred the money to him over a period of more than four months. According to the announcement, the fraud finally noticed an attentive bank employee who enlightened the injured party. The police warn of the stitch. The fraudsters would like to be in love with their victim – mostly by contacting the Internet. After the victim has developed a relationship of trust and affection, a money claim followed for various reasons. The police urge not to make cash payments on transfers to people who are known exclusively on the Internet and have never met in real life. (dpa)
