German FAZ: With BMW to the stronghold for electric cars009920

The new BMW electrical models, first the SUV IX3, later the electrical version of the mid-range series 3, offer Hungary the opportunity to grow as a production location for cars, and still with promising products. With BMW, BYD, battery cell production and raw material suppliers, a new cluster around the electric car is being built in Hungary. The country, which previously ran in the auto industry in other Eastern Europeans, could now overtake them at electric cars, while the others are much more set on combustion cars. This strategy is favored by the special China contacts of the right-wing populist Prime Minister Orbán. On the other hand, this takes on a controversial and sometimes risky special role in the EU.
