The commercial vehicle manufacturer Daimler Truck wants to further expand its military business. The DAX company from Leinfelden-Echterdingen near Stuttgart wants to work closely with the US armaments company General Dynamics Land Systems, it said in a message. Both companies would have agreed a strategic partnership. The aim is to cooperate in the development, production and service of military logistics vehicles in selected markets.
“With General Dynamics Land Systems at our side, we want to offer comprehensive solutions for armies worldwide, from chassis and basic vehicles with tailor-made equipment to long-term service and support,” said the head of Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks, Franziska Cusumano.
So far, Daimler Truck’s military business has been comparatively manageable: it is about one percent of the group sales, as a spokesman said. In 2024, the two companies had already received an order from the Canadian Ministry of Defense with other partners to deliver over 1,500 logistics trucks. The partnership aims to expand the cooperation that has already been tried and tested.
In addition to Daimler Truck, companies such as Brose, Deutz, Heidelprint, Salzgitter or Schaeffler also hope to replace the breaking business with military orders. Why the calculation will not work in many cases, the manager has analyzed magazine
