Woking-based McLaren Automotive has added an eighth location to its UK dealership network. The new site will go by the name McLaren Leeds.
The new location joins the existing network made up of facilities in Ascot, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Hatfield, London and Manchester. The facility will be operated by Park’s Motor Group, which also manages McLaren Glasgow – the McLaren Global Retailer of the Year in 2015 and 2016.
Phase I of the development is now complete. Phase II will see the addition of a purpose-built 12,000 sq ft showroom. The second phase is scheduled for completion by the end of 2018.
The opening of the new premises in Leeds recognises the city’s status as one of the fastest-growing in the country and an important centre for luxury cars. Leeds is also the hometown of the brand’s design director, Rob Melville.
David Gilbert, MD at McLaren Automotive Europe, commented: “This new addition to the McLaren retail network is another key step in our growth plan. Park’s Motor Group is a leading name in the luxury car market and already has an unprecedented record of success with McLaren Glasgow.”
McLaren has strong ties with the Yorkshire region, having invested £50m in the new McLaren Composites Technology Centre (MCTC) in Sheffield for production of the carbon fibre tubs which serve as the basis of the supercars. Currently under construction, it is expected to create up to 200 jobs when fully operational.
