German FAZ: Stellantis appoints new CFO 010046

Less than a year after his appointment as CFO of the Italian-French car manufacturer Stellantis, Doug Ostermann takes his hat off. According to the company of Monday, the American manager will go “for personal reasons”. His successor will be the Brazilian Joao Laranjo, who has been close to the acting chairman Antonio Filosa, who has been in office for four months. “I have been working closely with Joao for 15 years and has followed his promotion,” said Filosa. In addition to his financial competence, he praised his “result -oriented way of thinking and deep understanding of the complexity of our industry”. Problems in the Usalaranjo is now the third CFO of Stellantis in around two years and has to ensure calm together with his Italian boss Filosa. His predecessor Ostermann was appointed in October 2024 in the course of an extensive personnel appeal. He followed the American Nathalie Knight, who was partly held responsible for the problems on the American market, including oversized warehousing. She had come to Stellantis in 2023, and the car manufacturer has not got its problems in the United States for some time. North America is the large construction site in the group: in the first half of the year there was a adjusted loss of around 950 million euros, after a profit of around 4.4 billion euros was generated in the same period last year. Laranjo will therefore also spend a lot of time in Auburn Hills at Detroit, like his Italian boss Filosa, it says in corporate circles.Laranjo started his career in 2001 at General Electric, where he initially worked as an auditor and controller for the health sector in South America. In 2009, he joined Fiat Chrysler (FCA), the Italian-American predecessor of Stellantis, with the role of an auditor for the Latin American markets. Later he became CFO for this continent and then the CFO for North America – a role that Laranjo kept for seven years. However, he left Stellantis on the subject of further advertisements last year to go as Vice President of Finance to tire manufacturer Goodyear. The detour didn’t take long. At the beginning of the year, Laranjo started again at Stellantis in his former job as CFO for North America. Filosa thanked the predecessor Ostermann shortly and briefly “for his many years of work at FCA and Stellantis”. Ostermann had worked in the group since 2016.
