German FAZ: My first 10,000 kilometers in an electric car010275

The evening was now a year ago. It was a whiskey tasting in Sachsenhausen. The interlocutor, who was previously unknown to me, was sure: “After four years you can forget the battery in an electric car.” These cars were also full of disadvantages in other ways: too few charging stations, poor resale, and too little range. Shortly before, another contact had predicted to me: “At some point in Germany it will look like it does in Cuba, because the combustion engines will be driven until they fall apart.” The latter cannot be proven for the time being; the former could be researched on the S-Bahn on the way back from the whiskey. The batteries usually have an eight-year guarantee, and tests show that there is no need to worry about their lifespan.
