In the struggle for a second savings package for the crisis-plagued sports car manufacturer Porsche, the works council is increasing the pressure on management and warning of significant staff cuts. At a works meeting, the newly elected chairman of the general works council, Ibrahim Aslan, sharply attacked the leadership on Wednesday. “The board has not yet presented a vision for the future for our German Porsche locations, but is threatening to relocate development and production to countries with significantly lower wage levels,” said Aslan, referring to the austerity measures announced in the spring. “This means that one in four jobs at Porsche AG are at stake.”
