On January 1st there will be a change that will affect all West German drivers: the requirement to wear a seatbelt in the front seats will be introduced. Since there are initially no penalties, Germany remains a nation of seatbelt grumpy people. In any case, the GDR only followed suit in 1980, but issued tickets for “topless” people from October 1982. In the West, this only happened in August 1984. All passengers on the Concorde supersonic jets of the airlines Air France and British Airways, which began their scheduled service on January 21, 1976, were certainly wearing their seatbelts.
