Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche will receive around 8.6 million euros in 2017, one million more than in the previous year. This emerges from the annual report published on Tuesday by the Dax Group.
For 2016 he had received 7.6 million euros, in 2015 there were even 9.7 million. Compensation for the entire Board of Management of Daimler amounted to a whopping 35 million euros last year, which was 3.2 million more than in 2016.
However, Daimler board members do not receive their salary in one fell swoop. Their compensation consists of fixed and variable parts, which are also based on the operating profit of the Dax Group, the achievement of defined objectives and various other factors and which are paid out over several years. The exact amount of salaries can therefore change later.
Just two weeks ago, Zetsche had presented record numbers for 2017. Accordingly, sales increased by seven percent to 164.3 billion euros, earnings before interest and taxes even by 14 percent to 14.7 billion euros.
There is therefore more money for employees and shareholders. The approximately 130,000 tariff at Daimler employees in Germany should get in April 5700 euros. In the previous year there had been 5400 euros.
Shareholders should receive 3.65 euros in dividends per share, 40 cents more than in the previous year. However, the general meeting in April still has to agree.
