Clean cars for British milkmen

D he daughter of Deutsche Post, StreetScooter, is selling its electric transporters abroad for the first time on a large scale to a single customer. The British company Milk & More has ordered 200 of the electric vehicles, said the post office on Monday. In the future, British milkmen will use the StreetScooter to cross the island. Milk & More, which is part of the German Müller Group, delivers more than 1.5 million times more than 500,000 households in the UK every week.

With the StreetScooter, Swiss Post became one of the leading manufacturers of electric transporters, and at the same time benefited from the diesel crisis. The company describes its invention as “environmentally friendly”, “economical” and “innovative”. For the Bonn itself, around 5500 of the vehicles are already in use. However, Swiss Post also sells the electric vehicles developed for delivery traffic outside the Group and, according to company CEO Frank Appel, registers great interest – also from abroad. A second street scooter factory is scheduled to open in Düren, North Rhine-Westphalia, on Wednesday to meet growing demand.
