Volvo: Infotainment & Insurance

The Swedish manufacturer Volvo equips the XC40 with an Android system and digitizes its own insurance.

Recently, the manufacturer advertised Volvo with its new all-electric Volvo XC40, officially released mid-month. Now it became known that the vehicle is equipped with the Android infotainment system.

The operating system Android from Google, and also CarPlay from Apple, have been used in investigations as distraction-free because you are familiar with the overview. The XC40 is equipped with it, which implies the features Google Assistant, Google Maps and the Play Store before Google.

The car is also the first from Volvo, whose software and operating system can be updated via OTA (Over the Air). The use of Android allows the additional use of countless apps, as the operating system is known and popular.

Thanks to the Google Assistant function, functions such as navigation or music playback can also be controlled by voice input. In addition, the feature allows a connection to Smart Home, Maps from Google Maps also serve some assistance systems. For example, speed limits can be taken into account.

However, Volvo also offers some services that are made available via the infotainment system. These include, for example, Volvo on Call with preheating the interior, finding the vehicle and remotely locking and unlocking the car.

Furthermore, Volvo has its car insurance digitized. In this way, most of the incidents can be filed faster in the future and, above all, digitally. With this you want to become more customer-friendly, because it reduces waiting times for minor damage. Unlike major damage, it then no longer requires repair clearance.

If necessary, according to the manufacturer, a live transmission via streaming can also be carried out to clarify the claims issue.
