Lidar for $ 100: Velabit from Velodyne

The inventor of the lidar and market leader in the field, Velodyne, has introduced a new lidar that breaks a price record.

Now Velodyne follows and presents Velabit. The Lidar is the smallest from Velodyne and will be the cheapest at $ 100. The area of ​​application is the car and allows the blind spot, cross traffic to be monitored and it recognizes pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

The sensor is designed for the middle range and for low speeds. It measures six centimeters, six centimeters and 3.5 centimeters and can look up to 100 meters. The field of view allows coverage of 60-degree horizontal FoV x 10-degree vertical FoV and the laser uses 903 nanometers.

The Velabit Lidar is due to be launched this year.
