Traffic management in mixed traffic

A study by the University of Toronto found traffic management for conventional and automated vehicles.

Until that Autonomous driving on the street, it takes a while. Even if it is available, there will still be long vehicles driven by humans. This Mixed traffic carries dangers.

Researchers from the University of Toronto are investigating this issue. Although traffic safety should be increased through the use of vehicles, the effects of use in mixed traffic are largely unclear.

This is also in the context of road capacity, which is increased with the share of autonomous vehicles. Such problems arise with mixed traffic. One speaks of a non-linear complementarity problem, the solution of which is sought in traffic management guidelines.

Even simple guidelines, so the study from Canada, can help. This can succeed even if the route is still selected independently.
