MLADÁ BOLESLAV (CZECH REPUBLIC), Nov. 25 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The automobile firm Skoda has started serial production of its 100% electric Enyaq iV model, the brand’s first vehicle based on the Modular Electric Propulsion Platform (MEB) of the Volkswagen group and which will be assembled at its factory in Mladá Boleslav (Czech Republic) up to 350 units per day.
As reported by Skoda, this vehicle will be built at the company headquarters alongside the Octavia and Karoq, on the group’s only production line that supports vehicles based on both the MEB and MQB platforms.
“The Enyaq iV is the first Skoda series model that was designed as a fully electric vehicle from the ground up. This means that the new SUV also places completely different demands on the manufacturing processes compared to models with combustion engines,” he said. the head of Production and Logistics of Skoda, Michael Oeljeklaus.
Therefore, Skoda has invested 32 million euros in works related to the conversion of the factory to be able to produce this model, which will be assembled “flexibly”, depending on demand.
Skoda’s first electric SUV will initially be available in Spain with two versions, one with an electric motor of 177 horsepower, which has a range of 390 kilometers, as well as another variant with 200 horsepower and 510 kilometers of autonomy. The first units will arrive in the spring of 2021.
In the middle of next year, Skoda will launch the 80X and RS versions, with 260 and 300 horsepower, respectively, which have a second electric motor.
The new Enyaq iV will be offered in the national market for a price starting at 39,000 euros in its 177 horsepower version, while its 200 horsepower variant will cost 45,000 euros.
