German Manager Magazin: Tesla announces capital increase, share gives up000394

Elon Musk (49) uses the latest record run of the TeslaShares for a further capital increase of five billion dollars (4.13 billion euros). Ten major banks, including Goldman Sachs, Citigroup Global Markets and Morgan Stanley, will carry out the sale of the shares, as the US electric car maker announced. With the fresh capital, Tesla wants to reduce its debt level and bring new vehicle models onto the market. After the announcement, the share fell by around 2 percent before the market.

With the capital increase, Tesla wants to benefit from the soaring share that only reached a new record high on Monday at just under $ 649. This means that the price has increased almost eightfold in the current year 2020 and the market value exceeded the 600 billion dollar mark for the first time. That is more than twice as much as the three German car manufacturers Volkswagen, Daimler and BMW together. This makes Tesla the highest rated car company in the world.

The capital increase is already the second within three months and the third within a year.beginning of September the automaker had also raised five billion dollars in fresh capital, and at the same time it was announced that the share was not yet in the S&P 500 is recorded. The stock then crashed by up to 20 percent. Since the announcement in mid-November that Tesla will be included in the stock index on December 21 S&P 500 is recorded, the paper has again increased by around 57 percent.

Tesla has to stop clearing forests in Grünheide for the time being

The electric car manufacturer is pursuing ambitious growth targets and is investing heavily in various projects such as the construction of its first European plant in Grünheide near Berlin. Here, however, Tesla is encountering considerable resistance from environmental groups. It was not until Monday evening that the Frankfurt (Oder) administrative court issued a preliminary ban on logging, as the court announced (VG 5 L 602/20). However, the administrative court has not yet made a final decision on the matter.

The environmental associations NABU and the Green League had submitted an urgent application on Monday against the clearing requested by Tesla and already approved by the State Environment Agency. This is directed against the early approval of the felling of a further 82.9 hectares of forest on the property in Grünheide intended for the Tesla factory. Tesla did not comment at first. The “Tagesspiegel” and the rbb had previously reported on it. So far there has not been a final building permit for the controversial Tesla factory near Berlin.

Tesla plans to build around 500,000 compact Model 3 and Model Y vehicles annually. So far, the company has been building through individual provisional approvals because the complete environmental approval from the state of Brandenburg is still pending. Conservationists and residents fear negative consequences for the environment.
